Replacement Lids for Recycled Jars

Hi Kathleen,

I remember you saying some time ago about a place to get replacement lids for recycled jars that were a good price but you had to buy a lot?

Can you tell me where I can find them? I think rather than small bags of the recycled lids I'd be better off in the long run with a big amount.

I'm also working out which recycled jars I use a lot of and am trying to get a system where I don't use too many different sized lids.

Hope you remember their details.

Hi Vicki,

I tend to buy case lots of jars from a variety of sources depending on what I am intending to use them for and if there is a possibility of giving them away. It is because of this that I tend to also buy my lids by the case (therefor in larger lots).
You can purchase the lids in smaller amounts although I have found them to be cheaper when bought by the case.
The last time I bought lids: which was a couple of years ago now, I bought by the case which comes in lots of 1,000 and equated to .01cent per lid.

I have bought jars and lids from both of the companies below and they do have offices/warehouses in NSW.
Have found the service to be excellent with both companies (well over here in the West was AOK) amd I am sure you will find them to be very helpful as also.

Many thanks for this, I've already seen a couple of things with the cospak site that's interesting.

Certainly buying the small lots of lids is more expensive and once you get a handle on the jars you like to use a big lot is definitely the way to go.

Glad to be of service (well of help at least) I am all for paying the best price for the items I need.

I was just looking at one of my old receipts and see that my last case of jars 375ml ones, cost me 38cents each.
They are a nice size for jams and chutnies and I don't mind giving these ones away knowing that I most likely won't see the jars again.

The last lot of lids I bought had a stamp in the middle of the top saying - refridgerate after opening. I thought this was nice to use as not everyone puts their jams etc in the fridge.

I actually have about 4 different coloured lids which I use , the printed lid which is white and red, a plain white lid, a printed flower patterned and a plain gold lid. I use different colours because some jars I will give away, some I use to preserve items that will go in for judging and others I just like.

It is nice to know that you have found some possibilities.

I saw they have the sauce bottle lids as well... and did notice the coloured ones with patterns, very nice.

As soon as I can get this brain into gear (terrible head and chest cold at the moment that I can't shake) I'll sort out and get a quote on an order.

Hi Kathleen,

I've been trolling through Cospak, and looking at the jars as well as the lids... there's some great ideas for gifts etc when looking at some of the small 40g jars, sets of jams or sauces etc... oh I could get carried away, always loved bottles.

Apparently they're only about 3 hours from us, south of Brisbane and it would be just as easy to do a good sized order and pick it up.

I'm really happy with lots of 1,000 or more but thought if anyone was only wanting small amounts of the sizes I get I could probably post some at cost + postage, anyway haven't got the money at the moment to get a big order but just a thought?

Co -Op'ing the jars/lids would be a very sensible thing to do. I think if anyone wants jars and lids then they should consider this idea as it does save money in the long run.

Even having a pick up point in a certain area would be a good idea.

That's what I thought, it could be really helpful to anyone just wanting say 20-50 or 100 lids instead of paying nearly three times as much via other places.
